Hailloji, Taam Ispeeking
The title is exactly what an American or British customer will hear when he next calls a support line. Or perhaps the next time you use your computer you may see messages like 'Sarch' for 'Search' or 'Phaind' for 'find' and so on. Provided of course, the job reservations mandate for the private sector goes through. That the person will almost certainly not pass voice training will be passed off as discrimination.
Who tells these idiots that getting a job is the easiest part? Keeping it is what counts. Will we then also have a section in the mandate that specifies how long a person should be kept on the job and how much lower levels of performance he is allowed?
The most hilarious part of the entire reservations subject is that the government is actually encouraging mediocrity in the target caste group by lowering essential requirements. For example, lowering grade requirements for becoming a doctor, engineer or lawyer. Or lowering physical requirements to enter the police or other para military forces. By doing so, they are weaking the very structure of a given institution.
Given many Indians have a caste bias and therefore some castes require job reservations... but at least do it in a manner vaguely resembling intelligent!
Imagine this... the next time you go to a doctor, ask him if he's SC/ST or OBC. If he is, it may be better if you just get up and walk out, his feelings be damned. Why would you want to take a chance with your health, by consulting a person who got into the system on a bias and with a lower amount of the basics required for his profession - brains? Alternatively of course, you could ask to see his 12th grade certificates.
The Congress needs to do a major rethink before it tries to trip up this train. An axe just wont do for some people.
