Of Spoiled Brats and Criminal Parents

Yesterday's incident in Gurgaon was appalling but not really surprising. It's been happening for a while now and will continue to do so. Apparently a rich kid of 16, rammed his Optra into a security guard, crushing his legs.

Kids will be kids. They will all want fast cars and when they have them, they will want to drive them fast. Thats why we have parents... to bring up children with real values and with a balanced sense of right and wrong, moral and immoral.

Not these people though. They illegally procure driving licenses for their underage children. They give them access to powerful cars and bikes. When their kids commit a crime, they boast of being able to extricate them from jail in six hours or less through political connections. Whats more, even schools back the children (or young men I should say) in question.

These kids then grow to be law breakers, without any morals... rich law breakers however.

I have a suggestion here. Unless a parent has disowned his ward, in writing, and filed it in a court, with evidence of a clear delinking... jail the father! impose financial penalties of such magnitude that parents cringe at the thought of providing their kids with cars and other such paraphernalia. If unable to pay, let them serve jail terms.

If the kid...
- is underage and is driving without a license - 15 lakhs
- is underage and is driving with an illegal license - 5 lakhs + 10000 per day since license issue
- causes an accident without casualties - 5 lakhs + actual costs + 5000 per day spent in fixing
- causes an accident with casualties - 10 lakhs + actual costs + 1000 per hour spent in recuperation

PLUS all of the above requires COMPULSORY RUSTICATION from school.

I guarentee it... if parents are subjected to these fines, their kids will automatically fall in line. Social and financial pressure will make sure of it.

Until then, I can only feel sorry for the misguided kids, casualties and undiluted disgust at these criminal parents.
