Women in the Indian Army
I tend to agree with what a senior official in the army said quite recently, but with a twist. I believe women would be better off not joining the Indian Army.
Why would anyone wish to be a part of the corrupt, inefficient, tainted institution it is today?
In fact, I would go so far as to say, the only difference between the officers and the enlisted man today is that one can speak english and the other probably cannot as well. I'm not sure what the officer selection board is doing, besides the onanisation of probable authority. I see newly commissioned officers strutting around in their new found auras of authority, imperiously ordering around 20 year JCOs, with their voices still cracking with youth... and the JCOs trying their best to hide smirks and smiles... its hilarious.
They've been taught everything about authority... nothing about leadership, ethics or morals. Physical discipline has been beaten into them, mental discipline be damned. They know they must be respected, others can go take a hike. They also know they must carry out orders and complete tasks. Quality? Naah, not relevent.
Generals selling out for a bottle of whiskey and a gold chain, Brigadiers smuggling booze, Colonels smearing ketchup and claiming 'kills', Lt Cols involved in espionage, Majors accused of rape, Captains quickly leaving after their 5 year tenure in short service is done, running as far away as possible...
I remember an idealistic young Lt. who I had the opportunity to stay with in an Officers Mess one time. I mentioned that the sheets were filthy. He said 'these are facilities meant for officers, not for families and civilians (meaning me)... and we don't need comfort'. Now if that isn't condoning mediocrity, I'm not sure what is. The same chap who was 100% motivated at that time 5 years back, is now 100% demotivated and has put in his papers to leave. I feel sad for an organisation which cannot retain talented, motivated people who could have made a world of difference.
The end is near... perhaps not literally, but definitely in spirit.

Fully agree with you, what i feel is that we lack good administrators everywhere. And everybody has become corrupt, as it flows from top to bottom.
