Artists or Pornographers?
I read an article in the paper a couple of days back, where Mumbai cops entered an art exhibition and ordered a few paintings to be covered. In protest, apparently the artists covered all the exhibits. As is my usual tendency, I mentally lambasted the cops for their narrow mindedness. After all, art through the centuries, has numerous instances of human nudity as a centrepiece.
Today however, I happened to learn of the name of the exhibition - 'Tits, Clits n Elephant Dicks'. Sheesh! If thats what is called art... I'm guilty of flushing countless pieces of art down my toilet cistern every day. What a loss to the nation. Perhaps I should start a neighbourhood 'art collection' drive and get the entire colony to send their personalised pieces of art to the organisers of the exhibition, especially the people who choose and/or approved the name. A few complimentary pieces may go as well to the so called artists who decided to show off their work there. I'm getting ideas now. How about dog art? Perhaps flowing art from the gutters behind my house... the possibilities are endless.
Seriously, either people need to improve the quality of pot they're smoking or stop mixing toilet cleaner with their daily dose of coke.
Art? Humbug!

I agree, maybe it may not have been a completely appropriate title. However, the fact remains that people should be free to really do what they want as long as they dont impinge on anyone elses freedoms in the process. Maybe it was art maybe it wasn't, but thats not for the police to judge either is it. It was private exhibit so really they were free to do what they want. The issue here is not about art but rather about freedom.
