The Nation

These past few years, I feel is the closest we have ever come to a climax in our history.

On one hand we have institutions like the Supreme Court doing its best, and largely succeeding in setting examples for wrong doers in all spheres of life. On the other hand, we have (as usual) politicians doing their very best to drag this nation down to their own cesspool levels.

Lets start from the bottom, i.e. the politicians. Far from doing any good, they seem to be focused on negatively influencing anything and everything they can. I would go so far as to say, making a list of the most evil people in the country wouldn't be difficult. Just take a random sampling of the parliament, the lok sabha and the rajya sabha.

While all these paragons of virtue made a big hue and cry about the Vande Mataram controversy, a TV channel very ingeniously exposed their true colors. It simply asked them the difference between the national song and the nation anthem, then went on to ask them who wrote Vande Mataram. 90% didn't know. One actually said (in Hindi) 'now am I going to answer history questions? am I sitting here to answer these questions?'. It would have been a fitting answer if it had been a spontaneous response. Unfortunately for the idiot in question, he was shown on screen thinking, struggling with a response and then coming up with a belligerent reply in the notable absence of any other.

One case in point is the public lynching of Prof. Sabharwal. It is truly amazing, the depths to which these people can sink. Encouraging their own particular brand of viciousness on campus, politicians have reduced institutions of learning into stinking cesspools, where only things like them can thrive. The saving grace here is that the so called student leaders have now been charged with murder.

Another point is that force which makes the nations head sink in shame every day - the police. They are without morals, literacy, culture, tolerance, knowledge, education, skills or anything that would make their existence of any use. I will not forget the day my license was examined by a cop, who thoughtfully examined it for about a minute... upside down. More than half of these people come in with recommendations from... you got it - politicians. Now people who were meant to perform unskilled labor, when pushed into positions of responsibility have only one thing to look forward to - utter, unavoidable failure. And naturally, they will award god status to those beings who save them from that fate - the politicians.

On our 59th Independence Day, the power went off for about 6 hours in the day. In 60 years of independence, what have we accomplished? I don't really see anything notable. If anyone does see, please tell me.

Even my new dog (4 months old) cringes in shame when she pees on the carpet. What breed politicians belong to, I really don't know. What I am sure of, is that the Kennel Club of India wouldn't register them, regardless of their defecating and fornicating in public, barking, biting the hand that feeds, tendency to react in a rabid fashion and other canine characteristics.

Why? Because they would give dogs a bad name.
